If you must compare yourself with someone, compare yourself with Christ.

2 Corinthians 10:12-18
12 We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they are not wise. 13 We, however, will not boast beyond proper limits, but will confine our boasting to the field God has assigned to us, a field that reaches even to you. 14 We are not going too far in our boasting, as would be the case if we had not come to you, for we did get as far as you with the gospel of Christ. 15 Neither do we go beyond our limits by boasting of work done by others. Our hope is that, as your faith continues to grow, our area of activity among you will greatly expand, 16 so that we can preach the gospel in the regions beyond you. For we do not want to boast about work already done in another man's territory. 17 But, "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord." 18 For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.

12我們不敢和那些自我推薦的人相提並論；他們拿自己來量自己，拿自己來比自己，實在不大聰明。13我們所誇的，並沒有越過範圍，而是在　神量給我們的界限之內；這界限一直延伸到你們那裡。14如果我們沒有到過你們那裡，現在就自誇得過分了；但事實上，我們早就把基督的福音傳到你們那裡了。15我們並沒有越過範圍，拿別人的勞苦來誇口。我們盼望隨著你們信心的增長，我們的界限就因你們而大大擴展，16使我們可以把福音傳到你們以外的地方。別人在他的界限以內所完成的工作，我們不會拿來誇口的。17誇口的應當靠著主誇口，18因為蒙悅納的，不是自我推薦的人，而是主所推薦的人。

• 我們通常會誇口些甚麼呢？做得比某某好，解決得比某某快，反應得比某某慢，堅持得比某某耐 … 若不是與別人比較，就是與自已比較，我成熟了，世故了，老練了，經驗多了。我相信就算是多麼謙卑的人也有誇口的時候，主不是不容許我們誇口，而是在甚麼事情上才可誇口？
• 很喜歡新譯本13節「我們所誇的，並沒有越過範圍，而是在神量給我們的界限之內」。原來誇口的準則或界限是神所定的，經文甚至說是「量」給我們。若是神所定的界限，那一定不是日光之下的事，神所關心是日光之上的事。這是否提醒我們今天可以誇口只是屬靈的事。看看自己，那裡曾經與別人比較愛人靈魂，與神親密關係，研讀聖經的甜蜜，有時不如別人只借詞說自己靈命不成熟，沒有時間而已。別人與神的關係好，時刻感受到神，那是神特別看顧他，沒有甚麼可羨慕。但若果一但這人樣樣事都亨通，而自已就處處碰璧，就永不會想想他是否一切事上都仰賴耶和華，認定祂了！
• 保羅亦提到「山頭主義」，當我參予一樣事工或事奉，並不意味著這永遠是屬於我的。我的小嬰孩在我的努力付出下，漸漸成長，但終有一日可能需要別人來帶領照顧，可能果效會更好。要放手拱讓別人是很難的功課。你以前所得的稱讚，欣賞已變為他人的了。你是否願意without grudges的繼續支持他們呢？
• 誇口除了是驕傲外，亦可能是希望得到別人的稱讚。我更要小心在屬靈事上的驕傲及期待別人的讚賞。「誇口的應當靠著主誇口。」我期待是主抑或是人的讚賞呢？
