Exodus 15:22-27
22 Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea and they went into the Desert of Shur. For three days they traveled in the desert without finding water. 23 When they came to Marah, they could not drink its water because it was bitter. (That is why the place is called Marah.) 24 So the people grumbled against Moses, saying, "What are we to drink?" 25 Then Moses cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a piece of wood. He threw it into the water, and the water became sweet. There the LORD made a decree and a law for them, and there he tested them. 26 He said, "If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you." 27 Then they came to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there near the water.
22 摩西領以色列人從紅海往前行，到了書珥的曠野，在曠野走了三天，找不著水。23 到了瑪拉，不能喝那裏的水；因為水苦，所以那地名叫瑪拉。24 百姓就向摩西發怨言，說：「我們喝甚麼呢？」25 摩西呼求耶和華，耶和華指示他一棵樹。他把樹丟在水裏，水就變甜了。耶和華在那裏為他們定了律例、典章，在那裏試驗他們；26 又說：「你若留意聽耶和華─你 神的話，又行我眼中看為正的事，留心聽我的誡命，守我一切的律例，我就不將所加與埃及人的疾病加在你身上，因為我─耶和華是醫治你的。」27 他們到了以琳，在那裏有十二股水泉，七十棵棕樹；他們就在那裏的水邊安營。
- 當我們遇到困難，阻滯時，第一個反應往往是埋怨。埋怨自己，埋怨別人，埋怨環境，但這些埋怨的背後是埋怨神。我們很容易看到神不為我們做的事，但總記不起神曾為我們所造的事。
- 最難學習的功課是相信神是信實，相信祂做事方法不變，相信祂的大能，相信祂是神。看看以色列人好像很快就忘記了神在埃及所施行的神蹟，忘記這位神能把水變血，一樣能把苦水變為甜。這也是我的寫照，神過往在我身上的恩典從沒間斷，我過去的生命常看見神的恩手，祂的神蹟。為甚麼今天遇見些少困難就將神以往所作的都抹乾抹淨呢？求主讓我看見世事和世人諸多變遷，但神永不改變！
- 驟眼看好像神的愛有條件，他要以色列人遵行祂的律例典章。但細看之下，神已藉摩西的手將水變為甜，祂無條件讓祂的子民享用，更加是在埃及已大大施神蹟領他們出來，每一步都看見神的手在保護著他們。這一次在神的要求和試驗下，若以色列人以為水已變為甜，便不用再聽從神的教訓，那麼他們便沒法經歷到以琳的十二股水泉，七十棵棕樹。
- 我的光景又怎樣呢？若我已滿足現今的生活，沒風沒浪，吃飽穿暖，信仰沒有考驗，視事奉為工作，愛肢體的心冷淡，對神忽冷忽熱，沒有使命感，那麼我只可嚐到瑪拉的甜水，永遠沒法去到以琳的沙漠綠洲那裡，求主讓我做一個親近主，愛讀經，祈禱，關懷別人的基督徒，阿們！
